Welcome! My name is Abigail (Abi) Gustavson and I am a teen artist. Please enjoy my artwork!
About Me
Hi! I’m Abi, a 16 year old artist based in Southern California. I work across a wide range of visual and performing arts, but I’m always drawn back to pencil and paper. My favorite process is mixing media and building something from the ground up—whether that means constructing a piece and painting over it, or combining different materials to create something entirely new.
My style is constantly evolving because I love to experiment. I work with everything from crochet and sewing to painting, calligraphy, charcoal, oil pastels, and pen. I’m inspired most by my everyday life—people, moments, and places I know—and I enjoy reimagining them through my own perspective.
I’ve been recognized with a Fine Arts award, won my school’s bookmark design contest three times, and created the yearbook cover for my eighth grade class. Beyond visual art, I’ve spent my life in choir and performing arts, including musical theatre, honors choir, and advanced drama. I see myself as a well-rounded artist—everything I do, in some way, connects back to creating.
For me, art isn’t just about sharing with others—it’s about proving something to myself. Creating is how I grow, challenge myself, and express who I am. I also love making handmade gifts for the people I care about, putting time and intention into every piece as a way to show appreciation.
Outside of art, I’m on my school’s varsity golf team, love reading, and spend my free time going back and forth between books and creative projects. I also enjoy walking on the beach and constantly redesigning my room, which I think of as my biggest canvas—a space that reflects my thoughts, creativity, and identity.
In the future, I hope to incorporate art into my everyday life, no matter where it takes me. Whether through design, performance, or something I haven’t discovered yet, I can’t imagine a life where I’m not creating.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my portfolio! I hope you enjoy!
Lots of Love,
